Awards
- What awards and scholarships are available?
- The Rubber Division offers nine awards and two scholarships for recognition, achievement,
and support in the rubber industry. For more information on all available

- Do you know of other places to find scholarship information?
Education
Online Courses
- What are the benefits to taking the Online Courses?
- No paper,
no stamps, no waiting. All you have to do is read your textbook, go
online and sign in, then complete the assignments. All assignments are
administered in real time and your work is available to your employer
for a progress check. Rubber Division, ACS Rubber Technology Online
Courses are highly regarded in the industry as a valuable method of
continuing education, not offered in such a complete package by any

- How do I register for the Online Courses?
- Visit
the Online Courses Registration
Page to register immediately. After you register and pay, we will
ship your book to you within one week (depending on location). After
you receive the book, you will be ready to read and take your tests.

- How
can I pay for the Online Courses?
- Pay by
credit card for the quickest and easiest access to the course. You may
also pay by check, money order or wire transfer. After registering on
the Online Courses Registration
Page, you will be able to choose which course and click on a link
beside the words “Paying by check or money order?” which
will take you to a page with additional instructions about how to finish
registering and what to do to pay by check or money order. You will
have 30 days to pay.
- How
can my company purchase a course for me and/or my coworkers?
- Companies
can purchase courses for their employees only after contacting the Education
& Publications Manager via e-mail
or by phone at 330-972-7814.
- How
do I request an extension of the deadline for course completion?
- If you
cannot meet the present due date for any reason you must make your request
in writing via an e-mail
to the Education & Publications Manager. In your written request,
please explain why you need an extension and for how long. Ms. George
will respond to you via e-mail.
- Is
there a discount as a Rubber Division Members?
- As a Member,
you will receive a rebate of $100.00 after the purchase only by filling
out a Refund Authorization Form and returning it within 30 days to our
Finance Manager. More instructions on this are provided in your purchase
receipt provided via e-mail immediately after your purchase is processed.

- Where are seminars held?
- Seminars
are held in the fall, during our technical meetings, expositions and
conferences. Locations vary throughout the continental United States,

- How do I register for a seminar?
- Registration
is completed through meeting registration. You can register either online,
by mail or by fax. More information is available on the Seminars

- Our librarian can research your question via his access to the books

- How do I order meeting papers from past Division meetings?
- Please contact our librarian regarding inquiries of past meeting papers. Also available are Educational Symposia and Full Sets on CD-ROM from 2001 to the present. Visit
the Library for more information.
- What is a literature search and how can I get one?
- A literature search is a comprehensive search of both print and electronic resources
to find journal articles, technical papers, conference proceedings,
facts, books, etc. relating to your topic of interest. Our librarian
offers a fee-based research service to all who inquire, though Division
members do receive a significant discount. Contact our librarian to send him your topic request.
- How do I get a list of internet resources for rubber-related topics or specifically on tires?
- Our librarian has prepared an excellent list of web-based resourses for rubber, tires,
and polymer science in the Rubber
Links page.
Membership
- How do I login for the first time or get my first password for the Members Only Section?
- Visit the Members Only
Section and enter your email address, then click on the
"Don't Have a Password?" link. You will be asked to provide your
member number and your last name before a password can be created
and sent to the email address provided. If you don't know your member
number, contact the Membership Manager.
- How do I change my e-mail address (login ID) or password?
- If you must make changes, please contact the Membership Manager and enter your old and new e-mail
address or the password you would like to use. Our Membership Manager
will enter this into the system and send you a reply when it is completed.
- How do I renew my membership or become a member?
- You can renew or join online. If you're renewing, make sure you've logged-in,
then click on the "Renew My Membership" button. If you would like to join, go to the Membership
Home for more details on benefits and costs, plus the link to join
online.
- How do I become listed in the Membership Directory?
- You can be included in the Secure Online Members-Only Membership Directory — which is updated twice a month — at any time by
electing to be included on your join or renewal form, or by contacting the Membership Manager and requesting that your option be changed to Yes.
- How do I become an Emeritus Member?
- Emeritus membership is awarded to those Rubber Division Members who have maintained
a continuous membership for 15 years, are retired, and over the age
of 60. If you qualify, contact the Membership Manager
to begin the process.
Publications
- What books are available for purchase through the Rubber Division?
- Visit the Technical Books Home for
a complete listing of books. Remember, Members receive a significant
discount on all purchases.
- Can Rubber Groups or other organizations receive a discount on large quantity
purchases?
- Yes. Contact the Education & Publications Manager with
the complete details of your request to begin the process.
RC&T Journal
- How do I subscribe to the Rubber Chemistry and Technology journal?
- Go to the Subscription Home for information
on available subscriptions and the options within each.
- What is your policy for claiming a missing issue in my subscription?
- Please visit our Journal
Policy page for all policies related to subscriptions and claims.
- How do I contact someone about my article in the journal?
- You can contact the Education & Publications Manager who also manages the journal.
She will contact you or forward your message to the appropriate personnel.
- How do I get reprint or secondary publication permission?
- You can print a Reprint Form
or Secondary Publication Form
to mail or fax to us with your payment. Reprints and Secondary Publications
cost $30.00 (US) each. Payment must accompany the form.
- How do I use the search in RC&T Online?
- You can enter multiple words in any search box, but the search engine will look
for the exact phrase. If you are unsure of the exact phrase, you can
use Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) between words. You can also use
wildcards: * can be used to specify any number of letters before or
after the text you type (ex. rubb* would find rubber and rubberize),
while ? can be used to specify a single letter you are unsure of (ex.
Akr?n would find Akron).
- How do I view and print an article in RC&T Online?
- Anyone can view and print the abstract of an article, but only subscribers
or members who elected to receive the online version of the journal
(RC&T Online) can view and print articles. If you have a subscription
or are a member, you can login before choosing the article, otherwise,
you will have to login before being able to download an article. If
you do not have a subscription or are not a member, you can either purchase
a subscription or become a member (members receive access to RC&T

Rubber Groups
- What are Rubber Groups?
- Rubber Groups are subdivisions of the Rubber Division which is a division of
the American Chemical Society. Rubber Groups are able to offer social,
networking and educational opportunities in several states and cities
across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Columbia. For more information,
visit the Rubber Groups Home.
- Can I join a Rubber Group without joining the Rubber Division?
- Yes, but why would you want to? Just kidding. Visit the Rubber Groups Home, select
the group you're interested in, then click on the join link. For more
information on becoming a Rubber Division Member so you can receive
free access to the online version of Rubber Chemistry
and Technology, discounts on just about everything, including education, books, and
registration, visit the Membership Home.
