25th Anniversary of the Founding of the Polymer Engineering Program - The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, USA

"The Department of Polymer Engineering will begin a three-day celebration on Aug. 6, 2008, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the polymer engineering program at The University of Akron. In 1963, the Akron Polymer Engineering Center (APEC) was established under the leadership of Dr. James L. White. The Department of Polymer Engineering came into existence one year later. In 1989, APEC was renamed the Institute of Polymer Engineering. The celebration will include a symposium by alumni, presentation of the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award, a poster session, building tours, and a roundtable [discussion] involving several distinguished speakers. Opportunities to socialize will include a family picnic, reception and banquet."

4th International Rubber Glove Conference & Exhibition - KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

"The Conference will review and analyze, and provide critical information on the latest trends and development of the rubber glove industry, covering innovations, regulations and standards, productivity and competitiveness. IRC 2008 - International Rubber Conference & Exhibition 2008 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

From a letter by Dr. Kamarul Baharain Basir, Director General, Malaysian Rubber Board: "IRC 2008 is organized by the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) on behalf of the International Rubber Conference Organization (IRCO). Both MRB and IRCO believe that IRC 2008 is a strategic event that will enable members of the rubber fraternity from both the public and private sectors to discuss the way forward and what more can be done to enhance and sustain positive growth of the rubber industry. Carrying the theme 'Meeting Challenges and New Frontiers', eight eminent scientists and experts in the rubber industry have consented to deliver keynote lectures, apart from invited speakers who would talk on specialized topics. The Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Amad Badswi, has been invited to officiate the IRC 2008 where he will deliver the Opening Speech."

Global Plastics Environmental Conference (GPEC® 2009) - Orlando, Florida, USA

Sponsored by the Plastics Environmental Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers, the theme for GPEC 2009 is Plastics: The Wonderful World of Sustainability and Recycling. "Do you have new, exciting, innovative technology or research that you would like to showcase at SPE’s Global Environmental Conference 2009? The Plastics Environmental Division is looking for high quality, technical, business and marketing papers for presentation at our upcoming plastics environmental conference." Technical program topics include: Bio-based and Biodegradable Materials; Reclamation and Supply (Post-Consumer and Post-Industrial); Recycling: Electronics, Marketing and Business, Automotive and Regulatory Ribbon. Events also include Plenary Speaker Dr. John Christy (University of Alabama), co-winner of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore, the Clean Technology Business Forum and Competition, the Environmental Stewardship Awards and Dinner, exhibits on both days, and a Student Poster Session.

Asphalt Rubber Conference 2009 - Nanjing, China

"This Conference, like previous AR Conferences, will mainly focus on all aspects of the design, life cycle cost, construction, research, maintenance, recycling, tire/pavement noise reduction and production of asphalt rubber as a binder or use in a hot mix. Particular emphasis and priority will be given to papers about asphalt rubber as defined by ASTM, i.e. at least 15 percent crumb rubber from recycled waste tires in the asphalt rubber binder. Papers on related research and/or use of other non-ASTM rubberized asphalt products with crumb rubber from recycled waste tires as the primary asphalt binder modifier may be included as the program permits and as they relate to AR, as defined by ASTM, relative performance.
